I’ve been touting Mark Mulcahy and Miracle Legion (as well as Polaris) for a long time now. While Mulcahy was off the radar, there wasn’t much to post about. However, since his latest album dropped (the venerable Dear Mark J. Mulcahy, I Love You), he has toured solo, and with his post Miracle Legion band, Polaris. Releases haven’t been lacking as well. Alongside … I Love You, the Nickelodeon requested band Polaris re-released their seminal Music From The Adventure From Pete and Pete on vinyl, we are being treated to another reissue gem, Miracle Legion’s Portrait Of A Damaged Family (this blogger’s favorite ML album). With a plethora of reissued as well as new material, it would make sense that touring be part of the release promotion.

I was first shocked to hear that Ray Neal would be re-joining the fold. Most likely tempted back by the new standard business model of self-production, self-promotion, etc. There would be no ominous hand reaching into the band’s coffers this time around. Mulcahy’s own Mezzotint label will be handling the production and distribution. So this time the band can focus on performing the tumultuous songs from the latest re-release hitting stores on Record Store Day, April 16.

Here is the latest, albeit brief, press release from Mezzotint:

After seeing Mulcahy with his solo band, I know this will be an important show, not to be missed. If you love R.E.M., I urge you to go see (and most likely fall in love with) Mark and Mr. Ray, as well as the full Miracle Legion band. Fans of Frank Black and the Catholics will know the names Scott Boutier and Dave McCaffrey, as the rhythm section for Black.
